It is our sixteenth day in captivity here. Mr. Chi-Min seems unreceptive to my cries for mercy. I had a chance to interview him on camera where he insisted he was a well traveled and much loved ruler of Cambodia. He even cut out the tongues of several people “causing unrest” as he put it, to show his peace loving ways. He showed us a lovely teatime using some of the ancient flatware he’d acquired as a gift during the last military coup. I didn’t realize he was an aspiring musician and composer and it is considered an enormous honor to be forced to attend his polka concerts.
